Plymouth City Council were experiencing issues with their previous doors as strong winds were preventing the automatic swing doors from operating. Strong winds were also blowing into the reception area causing issues for members of the public and staff.
As Plymouth City Council's contractor for automated doors, we were contacted about the issues and invited to site to meet with the managers.
A surveyor from Doorcare South West Ltd met with the site managers and Plymouth City Council management to discuss the issues they were having with the door set and what could be done to overcome them.
The project was then tested to the current EN16005 standard and commissioned by our ADIA certified engineers
A survey put forward the proposal for an aluminium sliding door with an internal screen. The sliding door was better suited for this situation and the internal screen provided protection from the wind to the lobby area.
The thermal aluminium system door and screen system installed added excellent thermal properties to the lobby. The system was automated with a high quality, high performing automatic sliding door operator unit giving reliable performance and durability. Pocket screens were provided to ensure that no customers or staff could meet the sliding leaf of the door.
Safety being of the highest priority, the entrance was closed during the works and an alternative provided for the building users. Barriers were set up as standard as with all our jobs.
